SAN JOSE — Four suspects have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in West San Jose earlier this year, police said Tuesday.
On Feb. 4, officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Cadillac Drive for a report of a person shot. They found 29-year-old Juan Garcia of San Jose suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The death marked San Jose’s fifth homicide of 2019.
Detectives eventually identified four suspects: 21-year-old Jose Rosales, 19-year-old Emilio Avila, 18-year-old Victor Martinez and 24-year-old Ruben Huezoortiz, all of San Jose.
Rosales and Avila were already in custody — the former on related charges at the Santa Clara County Main Jail and the latter at the Elmwood Correction Facility on unrelated charges — when they were served with arrest warrants, according to San Jose police Officer Gina Tepoorten.
On Friday, the police department’s Covert Response Unit arrested Martinez and Huezoortiz in San Jose, Tepoorten said. Both were booked into jail on murder charges.
Authorities did not disclose any additional details about the case, including a possible motive.
