MOUNTAIN VIEW — Authorities are looking for additional victims of a 46-year-old Mountain View man they say raped a 12-year-old girl he met on an adult dating website.

Sean Muilenburg

The girl was reported missing from her home in Sunnyvale around 2 a.m. Monday, according to Mountain View police spokeswoman Katie Nelson.

In a news release, Nelson said an investigation revealed the girl had been texting with someone who lived at a home on the 500 block of Chesley Court in Mountain View. Officers headed to the home and intercepted Sean Muilenburg as was dropping the girl off a short distance from her home.

Officers learned the pair allegedly met on a dating website and exchanged cellphone numbers, according to Nelson.

“Sometime after they exchanged numbers,” she said, “Muilenburg picked the girl up at a Sunnyvale park, drove her to his home, and allegedly engaged in nonconsensual sexual acts with her.”

Authorities did not disclose the name of the website.

Muilenburg was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County jail on charges of rape of a child under the age of 14 and lewd and lascivious acts on a child under the age of 14.

Based on how Muilenburg communicated with the girl, detectives are concerned there may be other victims, according to Nelson. Anyone who is or knows a victim can contact Detective Temo Gonzalez at temo.gonzalez@mountainview.gov.
